This brief course offers five ways to understand Spiritual Emergency: Two popular TedEx talks speak of the neuroanatomy of spiritual experiences and the relationship of mental disturbance and shamanism. A slide presentation about Spiritual Emergency presented by Emma Bragdon on June 12, 2015 gives a colorful history of the term, organizations spawned from it, and current news from that time. Two articles by two psychiatrists, Stanislav Grof, and Nicki Crowley articulate more on diagnosis and treatment. If you are wondering how to introduce the concept of Spiritual Emergency and Spiritual Emergence to others--you might draw from these or share them in full with others.

About this Course
Spiritual Emergency: What is it?
This brief online course will introduce you to the category of human experience called "Spiritual Emergency". You will find a one page definition, three video presentations, and two articles--both written by leaders in the field--to help you understand how this category of experience is relevant to your life and the life of those you love and care for. You may find it very interesting to compare this with the course "Psychosis:What is it?" as many have formerly confused psychosis and spiritual emergency.
